Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Sri Lanka attended in a common Training Camp in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Asian countries have been preparing hard for the Asian Games and other important competitions. Therefore, Kazakhstan Boxing Federation hosted the International training camp as the first step of the preparation. Next to the Kazakh teams, Sri Lanka and Kyrgyzstan were also taking part in the training and sparring camp in Almaty.
The common training and sparring camp started on February 16 and held until March 3 in Almaty. There were two trainings every day in the camp and the teams were working to raise their technique in the morning session with schools and shadow boxing. The coaches were planning to start the sparring with 8 rounds and to increase it up to 20 until the end of the camp.
The training camp consists altogether four sparring sessions between the participating teams and boxers in Almaty. The training programs were arranged by Ukraine’s top coach Mr. Vladimir Vinnikov who trained their former AIBA World Champion Taras Shelestyuk and several big stars in our sport.
Sri Lanka sent 6 boxers to the training camp which was the part of their preparation to the upcoming Commonwealth Games held in Gold Coast, Australia in April. The top boxers as Anusha Dilrukshi Kodituwakku, Thiwanka Ranasinghe and Dushan Dinidu Saparamadu are aiming for medals in the Commonwealth Games therefore they are already near to their top shape.
